I have a 2 year old that’s ***** trained but occasionally pees at night (about once a week at this point). It’s not often enough to warrant a disposable diaper/pullup, in my opinion, which is why I got these. It’s hard to describe the issue, but basically, if she’s laying on her back, gravity works to bring the *** trickle to her backside, where it settles in an area of the diaper that is not waterproof, and only a little absorbent (it seems the waterproof part is just the crotch area). So it soaks through. It has worked as designed 2 times, out of about 5 night time accidents. The rest of the time, it leaked onto the bed. I suppose the product itself is fine, just not for laying down. I do like that it’s as easy as underwear to put on & take off, no unfastening anything to use the ***** in the night.
Hello Lyndsey,
Thank you for your honest review; we are sorry to hear that these did not perform better for you. Our Lil Learnerz are designed as a true potty training aid, and as such they will not have the same level of absorbency that you would expect from a diaper. It is possible that a toddler can wet too much all at once and overflow the absorbency. As you mentioned, you bulk of the absorbency is in the 'wet zone', meaning there is less at the back of the diaper. These trainers do have a full TPU lining that offers water resistancy, however it the trainer becomes fully saturated and not changed, it can lead to leaks. These are designed to catch a small accident or two, while helping your little one feel when they're wetting.
Warmly,
Amanda
